Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
Early Bird does not require an account and does not include analytics. None of your wake-up data is sent to any server. The one exception is subscription verification, described under Third parties below. This page describes the limited information that the app does handle and where it is stored.
What stays on your device
Your wake plan, streak, morning routine, verification history, weekend and vacation settings, name, and preferences are stored on your iPhone in iOS local storage. The same data is mirrored to your iCloud key-value store so that it syncs across your own Apple devices. This data stays inside your Apple ID. We do not receive any of it.
The bed photos
During morning verification, two photos are taken in the app and held briefly in memory. The gyroscope data captured between the two photos is compared so the app can confirm that you moved around your bed. Once that check is done, the photo data is released. The images are not written to your photo library and they do not leave the device. The only information that is saved is whether the verification passed and the time at which it happened.
Permissions Early Bird asks for
- Alarms: to schedule and present the wake-up chain through AlarmKit.
- Camera: to take the two verification photos. Photos are not saved.
- Motion: to read your phone's orientation between photos. No motion data is stored.
- Notifications: to send the bedtime nudge and the nightly pre-flight warning.
Third parties
Early Bird uses two third-party services, both indirectly:
- Apple: payments, iCloud sync, and the App Store. Apple's handling of your account information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: we use RevenueCat to verify your subscription state. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier tied to your Apple ID and your purchase history. It does not receive your name, email, or any of your wake-up data. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your email address.
- We do not collect your name (the name you enter for greetings stays on your device).
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect or share your location.
- We do not sell or share any data with advertisers.
- We do not have user accounts or passwords.
Your rights
Because we do not hold any of your data on our servers, there is no account to access, export, or delete from our side. To remove everything Early Bird has stored about you, delete the app and clear its iCloud data in iOS Settings under your Apple ID. To cancel your subscription, use your Apple ID settings.
Children
Early Bird is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how the app handles data, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be surfaced in the app on next launch.
